Description
Heavy-Duty Iris with Motorized XY Positioning – #16880
The Subec #16880 is a heavy-duty Iris guiding station designed for the controlled guidance of large cables, tubes, ropes and similar products in production and processing lines.
Four mechanically linked roller assemblies form the Iris opening and provide symmetrical guidance around the product. The opening is manually adjusted by handwheel to suit the product diameter, providing a robust and mechanically stable guiding arrangement for large and heavy products. The standard configuration covers product diameters from Ø70 to Ø280 mm.
The complete Iris is mounted on a motorized two-axis positioning system. Horizontal traverse and vertical height adjustment allow the Iris centerline to be accurately aligned with the actual product path. Both axes provide ±30 mm adjustment and are operated from a wired remote control station. Inductive sensors limit the movement in each direction.
The positioning system offers both short-step and continuous jog operation, allowing small corrections as well as larger positioning movements while setting up the production line. The relatively slow movement is intentional and provides controlled adjustment of the heavy Iris assembly.
With its rigid construction and maximum specified Iris tractive load below 400 kg, #16880 is intended for demanding applications where conventional smaller guide units are not sufficient.
